Episcopalians are not assholes.

I am very pleased with today’s ruling overturning California’s Proposition 8. All of God’s children are equal in God’s eyes, and today Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker affirmed once again that all Californian families share equal protection under the law.

The Episcopal Church has reached resolution on the issue of full civil rights for lesbian and gay persons and, speaking for myself as a bishop and person of faith and as a representative of the Episcopal Church, I am gladdened whenever discrimination is rejected and fundamental rights are acknowledged as equal rights.

The Rt. Rev. Marc Handley Andrus
Bishop, The Episcopal Diocese of California

Hats off, Episcopalians! Way not to be exclusionary assholes. SB gives credit where credit is due.

I wrote an essay and deleted it.

Giving anyone the right to marry another human does not affect my marriage at all. It is a beautiful thing when people love each other enough to devote their lives to one another. I don't care what you do, if anything, with your sexy bits. None of my business. In fact, if you want to marry for money, or some other reason, it's no business of mine at all. Marriage is a contract between 2 people and whatever it is that they agree on is fine with me.

I have informed my husband that if either he or I need to stay in a nursing home we will be getting divorced. Nursing homes here will suck all your money away and leave the remaining spouse destitute. They are free if you are broke. So divorce will allow one spouse to keep half the assets.

Good for them. I am a bit surprised since the episcopal church I knew had a pretty tight a#shole.

My friend Jack says that Episcopalians do not have church on Sunday night because they're all drunk by then. He's an Episcopalian. I love you, Ms. Bastard-Beloved.

If you like him, you'll love Bishop Spong. He's the coolest.

Couldn’t agree more. Tolerance is golden.

Syd,
That's what the Moms thought, too. Maybe it used to be more restrictive?

I don't think you've ever posted anything that I didn't wholeheartedly agree with. What's with that? I like to think of myself as special and unique and you've just shattered that image :)
No, seriously, I totally agree with you. How can anyone want to waste their time so caught up in what other people do with their "sexy bits" (Jeannie, you're so funny. I'm totally using that one again and again). As long as someone's choices aren't hurting me directly, I just don't give a darn. Good for California.

Nellie,
And vice versa. I am so happy I met you.

You are family, and I love you.
