I don't care if it's fair or politically correct to say this, but there are some things in life we are just not physically equipped to do. For instance, I would make a lousy fireman. I am too fat and out of shape to be lugging people or heavy equipment around. If you do not have legs or arms, you cannot be a proper cheerleader. Sorry. Get over it. There are plenty of other things this young woman might excel at. Just. Not. This.
Go ahead and bawl me out and take your shots at me, those of you who are tenderhearted liberals. I could give a shit.

Dear god. What have we come to? I'm sure her parents have told her repeatedly that she can do or be anything she wants. Which may be true but may not.
Besides, how can you be in the marching band AND be a cheerleader?
I have to agree with you on this, SB. There's loads of things I'd love to do but can't, that's life and I live with it, it's called being an adult.
Well said.
Love ya. x
Oh please...she's in a fricken wheelchair and has no limbs! I'm all for equality but it has limits-Should I sue every local government because I'm colorblind and find traffic lights don't accommodate me?!?
Yes Julia Sullivan, you ARE a special snowflake...just like every other person in the world. You are handicapped-suck it up and move on...
it doesn't bother me she didn't make it, it does bothers me her parents asked for her to have special treatment that favors her over other candidates.
i believe there is some wording in the ADA to that effect as well, that it is ok to modify some things as recommended by an IEP, however, you can't modify to the extent that gives the person in question extra advantages over the other students/people in question. had they not let her try out at all, the family may have had a case.
furthermore, if she wasn't the only one cut i'm not sure what validity her argument holds.
if they (the team) want to pull her ass in a cart and have her wave the pom with her teeth i am all for it. however, it's an extracurricular activity and i don't think it can be madated that she be allowed to participate. she didn't make the team by a set of standards that judged all of the members. it is not a graded activity. she can continue cheering in a private studio if she chooses to do so, like many other girls (and boys) who do not make the school team.

You crack me up, and you are so right!
Well said... her pom pom action will be rubbish.
I love my readers. I should have known I would take no crap over this from any of you. Laugh.
"Special snowflake."
Haha!
I'm with ya on this one... it's just so... ridiculous. I have not read the article, but I hope to God her parents aren't suing the school because she was not chosen...
And as long as we're being politically incorrect, I abhor female sportscasters. They sound and look ridiculous and out of place to me... EVEN more than the lame ass men they have doing it now a days.
I agree with the Mrs. Miss... it isn't about her actually being 'good enough' (as if a 'bobber' could be good enough) to be a cheerleader... her parents are teacher her not that she can 'do' anything (because she can't do 'anything'... she may make a fine President, but she would still make a lousy soccer player!!) but that if she whines hard enough, she can get her way...
...good luck with that..!
Fact is, she can't do the job with no arms and legs. Lots of people with arms and legs, can't do the job. Get over it honey.
Jeannie,
I knew you'd get it. Love you so!
I'm thinking cheerleading in general was stupid. All everyone wanted to do was get a look at the legs anyway. If one has no legs then what is the point?
Are you insinuating that Progressives don't know batshit when they hear it?
I've wanted to be a Mormon elder for decades, but I'm just not. That doesn't mean someone needs to litigate about it!
I'm with you. And Syd xx
