Dash Snow R.I.P.

I'm a little late on this news, but I found out today that the artist Dash Snow died of a drugs overdose. It always gives SB the SADS when an artist, with a particularly unique way of looking at the world, dies.

Here are some of Dash's photos (he also did collages, which often contained his bodily fluids).

The most interesting thing to me about Dash is that he walked away from the de Menil family art fortune early in his life. The de Menils of the art collection. I can't say I'd have done that. SB would kiss grandma's ass to get all of her money, then my ass would rebel and become the family wastrel and piss it all away on parties, drinking, all shades of debauchery, and likely drugs. [I'd like to bring the words wastrel and debauchery back into the common language, too.]

Dash rebelled from his art-collecting family by becoming an artist.

If anybody is offended by the photos above (and I'm not talking about my regular blog family--because I know they aren't Puritan pinheads), then fuck you. I fucking hate Puritans.

Besides his art, this is what Dash leaves behind.

I read about his suicide. All alone with his booze and drugs in a hotel room. So sad. I wonder why? Useless question but still I wonder what brought on the decision. Sad stuff.

Thanks for sharing, I'll look into his work. RE puritan pinheads, why can't they just be put into one country all by themselves...oh shit, wait. LOL.

SB,
I'd never heard of Dash Snow, so thank you for making me aware. I'll have to go a-googling. I love that picture up top, the smoking girl seems to be thinking, "Well, I can't smoke with two hands!" And I love that she has pubic hair, but that's just me. All these bald cooters walking around, are we trying to be 11? It's creepy and it itches.
His wife and daughter sure are lovely. It's so sad.
love,
May

Heather,
I didn't hear until today either. I guess he's not really considered a well-known artist. Maybe now he will be. We know how that goes, right?

Thanks for reading!

May,
I agree about the pubic hair. I love your frankness. You are definitely your mother's child.

I miss your Mama. When is she due back?

Love,

SB

i like any type of photography that depicts things that happen in day to day life that people don't want to acknowledge.

puritans can climb back on the mayflower and go home.

I've never heard of this guy before, but it's a very interesting story. Art with bodily fluids sounds a little too gross though, even por moi.

I love the wealth of interesting and random knowledge that is SB.

I love how bored the brunette in the first picture seems.

I'd never heard of this artist, but methinks I should do some looking around online.

I learn something new everyday! Never heard of him but I googled and found a new appreciation. I'm with May on the pubic hair. God knows, I'm a sucker for mutton chops...anyway, In many of his photos, the subjects were featured lying in nests of hotel comforters and dirty sheets. I like that.
