Shit SB Says in an E-mail to Her English Brother
I love the phrase "stately home." It's so English. Over here, we'd just say, "a big motherfucking house."
"Historic house" used to be the "smart set"'s expression. But now the Great Unwashed also use that expression Tatler the society magazine would call one "a stately"..!
Unfortunately the ex editor of Tatler now edits the London evening newspaper. I wondered why the sudden interest in titled nobodies on just about every page ~~ and now I know!!
I've a future post about a stately home... another bizarre event which should never have happened but somehow did. I won't post the story here, but I'll tell you it ended with us hatching a plan to flog a deer to a South African butcher, only for the poor animal to get it's second coming and bolting from our van and out across central london! The last thig I remember is my my friend saying: "OK, you oopen the doors and I'll hit it on the head!!!"
lol
Hope you're well SB... thanks for still coming across, it means a lot. All My Love, shane. x
SB- I just noticed you live in Georgia the state I just left. We lived in Wayne County, Jesup Ga. My neighbors boar hunted. Everyone had a confederate flag and eats red meat. My other neighbor made homemade wine. Small world. Savannah is gorgeous. I was called a Yankee many times. I am actually saving to go to London. I dig the British. I also love the phrase "stately home".. I shall start referring to my little crib as such..
Lori, I lived there for a short time a long time ago. I just put that location because it is definitely where my heart is. I wish I was there nearly every day. We are going back for a vacation in the spring.
I am a Gen-X, lazy, manic-depressive bastard, with an eating disorder, OCD, and a propensity for alcoholism. I am basically hell to live with, but I enjoy red wine, Ritalin, reality TV, and disdainful cats. This description could also be useful as a personal ad for a dating service.

"Platatial."
"Stately" is a word we Yanks cannot relate to.
Gleddy,
I learn a lot of good stuff from you. Thanks.
SB loves you!
My dad and stepmom call their largish house "Bad Manor".
There are a lot of historic homes here. The tacky nouveau riche ones are called McMansions.
DTG,
I was a missin' you and here popped up your comment. You must have psycho powers, like me.
Love,
SB.
Home in a state... that's very English as well!!!

I do, in fact, have psycho powers. For example, the power to time travel, just by sitting here long enough.
Shane,
I can't wait to hear the tale, my brother.
Great hearing from you! I've missed you. Thanks for stopping round.
Love, SB.
DTG,
I don't doubt it, brother. Not at all.
Love, SB.
