Personally, I think Polanski is a genius. Doesn't mean he's perfect, but it would be nice if they'd stop persecuting him.

If this was a sincere attempt at justice instead of a grandstand to look 'tough' on something that they are not, I would agree with you.
But I am not good with him being able to get a 'deal' that left him relatively unscathed for stat rape. That has nothing to do with being 'Puritanical'. What he did was a crime.
Time has passed and people have manage to grow beyond what happened. Does that mean it is it is okay for a rich cat to get away with what he did? No. Absolutely not.
I do think they should make a deal, especially with respect to Ms. Germier feelings now. But it wasn't 'rape' simply because she was 13... it was 'rape' cause he got her drunk. Do you know what will happen to this Negro if he got a woman drunk and slipped her the wicket and she caught a case of the regrets? Maybe if I was Donte Stallworth rich, and could kill someone with my car and pay them off, or a artistic genius like your boy Roman (and yes, I like his work as well), maybe I could have my friends ship me overseas and live like a rock star...
... 43 year-old cats should not HAVE to get teenagers drunk to screw 'em. That lets you know that this was a calculated rape and it makes what Roman did nowhere near EVER being forgivable. But again, things being what they are, there should be a deal to be had and put this puppy to bed. Has less to do with being stuck-up Puritans but more to do with being grandstanding press whores.
