To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special.
Cancer can take away all of my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever. I thank you and God bless you all.

I need to send Kathleen here.
Good advice for all of us.
You are lived, Ms. Bastard-Beloved.
Very nice quote. To live by, definitely.
Ms. Moon,
Did you mean to type "lived"? I am lived and very happy about it. Laugh.
Jenn,
Why thank you, my dear.
Watching ESPN yesterday they showed him making that speech several times at the inagural Jimmy V dinner. I copied the quote down myself and planned to post it on Facebook.
I still will.
I find a lot of similar feelings in my heart that are expressed in those words. Though I am not on as short a clock as he was I definitely have things that I cannot do or reasonably expect I will be able to accomplish.
I don't mind. I live and love and I laugh. Every now and again I am moved to tears and when they all happen on the same day, I do feel fulfilled.
Good posting.
You are lived and loved. This is one sage post, and I'm going to copy it to look at daily if that's what it takes to keep my damn head on straight. Thanks again, my friend. Hugs.
Dang, don't think any less of me, but I didn't actually know who Jimmy Valvano was, but my son just told me all about Jimmy V week, Jimmy V basketball camps and charities, and he's 16! I'm so proud. So I watched the speech he gave on ESPN just months before he died, and got all three things done in no time at all. What an amazing guy. Do you know what his tombstone says? "Take time every day to laugh, to think, to cry." Might just have that embroidered on something. Thanks again, my friend.
Dear SB, what a brilliant quote. Definitely one to remember. I am very lucky that all my friends are so funny and I laugh every day. Love you xx
PS. Your comments have been great lately. Esp the one about me being too damn nice! Unfortunately everyone at work reads my blog so that's the style I've had to stick to! Should have been anonymous!
Hi,
I hope you are okay.
The quotes are certainly words to live by.
j.
Big Mark,
As my dear friend, I am happy you are fulfilled in your life. Very happy.
Mel,
Thank you. I certainly don't think less of you for not knowing who Jimmy V. was. I just enountered him myself on ESPN in a lead-up to his tournament. I just felt the need to know more about him, so I posted his quotes yesterday from an article I was reading. Love you lots. Thanks for your comments.
Christina,
I just adore you. If I lived in London, we'd have a great fucking time. We'd. cut. up. I just know it. Love you tons!
Guy in the silk tafetta dress,
I am honored that you took the time to read the quotes. I am honored that anybody reads me. I really am.
Love to all,
SB
