A Comment from My Sweet Friend Kathleen

This shit made me laugh.

My mother prays for parking spaces at the shopping center. If she finds one nearby she gives a fervent "Thank you Jesus!". If she finds one far away, she says, "Thank you, Lord, you knew I needed to walk today."

You can check out Kathleen's lovely blog here, motherfuckers:

Just click on that shit, you bunch of lazy assholes.

I hate to admit it but I was once a fervent Christian. I may still be but not in the same way. When your life is chaotic and you want to feel like there's a reason for everything, Jesus is a great guy to have around. Problem is, there's no consistency. And it's pretty obvious he loves us in the west more than the folks in Sudan or Calcutta if "blessings" can be counted as favour. There are some lessons learned that were invaluable - forgiving people keeps you from ending up doing 25 to life. But when you finally get your head straight and able to face what you couldn't before, you realize that God doesn't give a shit where you park. And why should he?

Hi SB, thank you for pointing your friends to Hill Country Mysteries! I was surprised when the first one showed up. When the second one commented, I knew you must have said something to point the way.

I knew you'd like Mom's parking. I smile too. But I gotta say, she's still vital at 84 and I'm in favor of anything that keeps her happy.
